Rowley's Red Barn

Looking back on our blog I realize that I've waxed poetic about autumn on just about an annual basis.  I can't help it - I love fall!!  It's so wholesome, so romantic!  What's not to love about bundling up, searching for the perfect pumpkin, and sharing a thermos of hot cocoa with your loved ones?  It's magical, I tell you.  Magical!

Anyway, yesterday we thought we'd check out Rowley's Red Barn, a place in Santaquin that sells AMAZING homemade ice cream, treats, and farm fresh produce, because it's also a working farm.
Since it was fairly warm that day, we started off with some of that delicious ice cream (and apple cider doughnuts!):
mint cookies and cream,
 orange cream,
cookies and cream,
 caramel apple,
and vanilla soft serve:

Everyone approved of their flavor choices.  Even the soft serve was the best soft serve I've ever tasted.  Ellie was quite pleased.
Once we had all finished stuffing our faces, we went on a hayride out to the pumpkin fields.
There were several fun activities waiting for us in the fields.  Potato sack slides (Sammy was so proud of himself for going on his own!):

Pedal tractor races:
And a friendly horse from the neighboring field:
There were also apple cannons, a small maze, and a big sandbox.  The kids had so much fun that we had to remind them to go pick out their pumpkins before it got too dark.
Each kid chose whatever pumpkin they could carry and carefully cradled them in their laps on the hayride back.  The sunset was gorgeous as the tractor steadily pulled us past the apple orchards and back to the parking lot.
Once paid for, we piled into the van and finished off our autumnal adventure with a thermos of hot cocoa and some more apple cider doughnuts.
I love these kinds of outings, the ones that are just perfect from start to finish.  We had such a good time.  We might have to make this an annual tradition from now on!  See you next year, Red Barn!
